Hourslater,Vietnam'scivilaviationauthoritiesalsoannouncedasimilarbanforaperiodof90days,butthebanonflightsbetweenTaiwanandVietnamwasquicklyreversed. WublamedtheWHO'sreportonthe2019novelcoronavirusforthedecisionsmadebyItalyandVietnam,accusingitofproviding"inaccurateinformation." InthereportdatedFeb.1,"Taipei"wasincludedinalistofprovinces,regionsandcitiesofChinawithconfirmedcasesof2019-nCoVacuterespiratorydisease. Also,inatableofconfirmedcasesworldwide,itlistedChinawith11,821casesandsaidtheyincluded"casesconfirmedinHongKongSAR(13confirmedcases),MacauSAR(7confirmedcases)andTaipei(10confirmedcases). TaiwanisnotamemberoftheUnitedNationsandisroutinelylistedaspartofChinabyU.N.-affiliatedorganizations,butWusaidthewaythefigureswerepresented"ledtothemisconceptionthatTaiwanispartofChinaandaseriouslyinfectedarea." WususpectedtheWHOreportasakeyfactorinItaly'smovebecausethesuspensionofflightswasmadeontherecommendationofItalianhealthauthoritiesandtheannouncementusedtheterm"Taipei"andotherlanguagefoundintheWHOreport,theforeignministersaid. Italy'sflightbanagainstTaiwanhasnegativelyaffectedthousandsoftravelers,andtheyarenotlikelytogetcompensationfromairlinesandfromtheWHO,Wusaid. "IwouldliketopubliclycallupontheWHOtorecognizethesimplefactthatTaiwanisTaiwananditisnotpartofthePeople'sRepublicofChina,"Wusaid,stressingthathealthcareinTaiwanandChinaisadministeredbyseparateauthorities,asaretheirflightinformationregions. Wualsocriticizedsomeofthebody'sofficialswhohavepraisedBeijingforitshandlingofthecoronavirus,describingthemaslivingina"paralleluniverse." HesaidtheWHOwasnotbeingtruetoitsmottoof"healthforall"and"leavingnoonebehind." NotonlyisTaiwanbarredfromtakingpartintheWorldHealthAssembly,itsexpertsarealsoarbitrarilypreventedfromtakingpartin70percentoftechnicalmeetings,hesaid. ThecoronavirushasbeendeclaredaglobalpublichealthemergencybytheWHO,leadingmanycountriestoimposestrictrestrictionsontraveltoandfromChina. AsofmidnightSaturday,therewere14,380confirmedcasesoftherespiratoryillnessinChinaandatleast304deaths,leadingtoChina'sincreasingisolationtopreventthespreadofthediseaseoutsideitsborders.
