Skiptomaincontent Advertisement SearchSpringerLink Search AbstractInthispaper,Antennaisanevergreenfieldofresearchbecauseofitsnever-endingdemandinthemoderncommunicationera.Inthispapermetamaterialantennaispresented.“Meta”aGreekworddefines“beyond”thematerialsprovidepropertiesbeyondconventionalmaterials.Inthispaperthemetamaterialandmicropatchantennaconceptsarecombinedtoimprovetheperformanceoftheordinarypatchantenna.ThismetamaterialantennaisdesignedinFR4Epoxysubstratewithdielectricpermittivityof4.4,heightofthesubstrateis1.6 mmandlosstangenttanδ = 0.02withasimpleshapeofrectangularpatchofdimension40 mmlengthand30 mmwidth.ThisantennaissimulatedinanintegralbasedsolversimulationsoftwarecalledCSTMicrowavestudiov2018andyieldedbestresultssuchasreturnloss − 46.58 dB,VSWR1.009andbandwidthof574 MHz,directivityis3.379dBi,gainis3.23dBifortheresonantfrequency(fr)of2.4 GHz.Thefeedingnetworkisalsodesignedforbetterintegrationinrealtimeapplications.Thisantennaisfurtherfabricatedandtestedforthevalidationandobtained,VSWR1.3,Returnloss − 26 dBandBandwidthof200 MHz.Thismetamaterialantennaissuitablefor2.4 GHzWiFiapplications.
