有鑒於台灣未曾舉行過正式國際合唱大賽，同時為擴大節慶交流效益，並持續推動國人創作、演唱國際樂壇主流「無伴奏合唱」，以提升台灣精緻合唱之風氣水準，並藉此讓台灣原創合唱作品得以在國際舞台嶄露頭角，以展現台灣合唱實力，台北愛樂於2018年「台北國際合唱音樂節」期間同步舉辦首屆「台北國際合唱大賽」。

賽事共分為八組，將邀請國內外知名指揮擔任評審，台北愛樂於2018年首次舉辦「TICC台北國際合唱大賽」，首度舉辦即吸引來自台灣、中國、菲律賓、印尼、馬來西亞、香港、澳門等7個國家，共51隊優秀合唱團隊共襄盛舉，參賽人數超過2100人次，一同角逐8組分組賽冠軍及大獎賽冠軍。

同時，本賽事還與台北國際合唱音樂節暨音樂營共同舉辦，結合比賽、音樂節與營隊課程，全方位打造合唱交流新契機。

 The2019TaipeiInternationalChoralCompetitionwillbeheldinsummer2019.RegistrationwillstartfromOctober,2018.Forthelastfewdecades,TaipeiPhilharmonicFoundationhasbeentheprimaryforcetopromotechoralmusicinTaiwan.TheTaipeiInternationalChoralFestival,organizedbythefoundationannuallysince1996,isthelargestplatformforinternationalculturalexchangeinTaiwan,andhasbecomeoneofthemostprestigiousmusicfestivalsinAsia.Morethan100choirs,fromdifferentcornersoftheworld,haveshowntheirartistriesinthisfestival.Inordertofurtherexplorethehorizoninthechoralworld,theFoundationhasdecidedtoexpendthe2018TaipeiInternationalChoralFestivaltoincludeonemorecomponent–TheFirstTAIPEIINTERNATIONALCHORALCOMPETITION.Withthecompetition,wehopetoenhancetheglobalculturalexchange,toshowcasetheabundantTaiwanesechoralmusic,andtohelpelevatingtheartofchoralsinging.The2019TaipeiInternationalChoralCompetitionwillhave8differentcategories,withapanelofeliteinternationalchoralmastersasthejury.Withtheideaof“sharingTaiwanesechoralmusictotheworld”inourmission,everychoirthatparticipatesinthecompetitionwillberequiredtoperformapiececomposedbyTaiwanesecomposers.Inadditiontothecompetitions,thechoristerswillalsohavetheprivilegetoparticipateintheinternationalconcertsandvariousworkshopsorganizedbytheTaipeiInternationalChoralFestival.Itisdefinitelytheplacetobeinthesummerof2019!
