RAID6 RAID6issimilartoRAID5,exceptitprovidesanotherlayerofstripingandcansustaintwodrivefailure.Aminimumoffourdrivesisrequired.TheperformanceofRAID6islowerthanthatofRAID5duetothisadditionalfaulttolerance.RAID6becomesattractivewhenspaceandcostareimportantandsustainingmultipledrivefailuresisrequired. RAID10 RAID10combinesthebenefitsofRAID1andRAID0.Readandwriteperformanceisincreased,butonlyhalfofthetotalspaceisavailablefordatastorage.Fourormoredrivesarerequiredmakingthecostrelativelyhigh,buttheperformanceisgreatwhileprovidingfaulttoleranceatthesametime.Infact,aRAID10cansustainmultipledrivefailures—providedthefailuresarenotwithinthesamesubgroup.RAID10isidealforapplicationswithahighinput/outputdemandsuchasdatabaseservers. RAID50 RAID50,alsoknownasRAID5+0,mergesdistributedparity(RAID5)withstriping(RAID0)andrequiresaminimumofsixdrives.ThebenefitsofthisRAIDlevelarebetterwriteperformance,betterdataprotection,andfasterrebuildsthanRAID5.PerformancedoesnotdegradeasmuchasinaRAID5arraybecauseasinglefailureonlyaffectsonearray.UptofourdrivefailurescanbeovercomeifeachfaileddriveoccursinadifferentRAID5array.
