（責任編輯：謝宜臻） 據說工作佔人生1／3的時間，而睡覺佔了另外的1／3，也就是說你醒著的時間有一半都在工作！這麼多的時間花在工作上，是不是應該好好學一下職場英文呢？以下最是常出錯的工作英文用語，快來看看吧！ 我完成了。

? I’mover. ? I’mdone. over可以翻作「結束的，完畢的」，但如果說I’mover.聽起來會像是「我結束了」，因為over的主詞通常是事情。

所以要說自己已經把工作完成時，要用I’mdone.會比較貼切，done在這邊是形容詞，表示事情完成了，或是某人做完了某件事情，主詞可以是人或事情。

若想明確地說出自己完成了哪項工作，也可以用Ifinished____.這樣的句型。

Boss:Youhaveareporttodo.Youcan’ttakeanapnow. Employee:I’mdone. Boss:HowaboutthoseemailsItoldyoutosend? Employee:Ifinishedthemaswell. Boss:Fine.Iguessyoucantakeanapinthatcase. 老闆：你有報告要做，你現在不能睡覺。

員工：我做完了。

老闆：那我叫你寄的那些電子郵件呢？ 員工：我也完成了。

老闆：好吧，那我想你可以睡了。

真的有聖誕老人嗎？聽聽看孩子們的說法（KidsDebateWhetherSantaClausIsReal） 工作量很大 ? bigloading ? heavyworkload 「大」直接翻作big，是非英文母語者很常見的問題，就像「大雨」很常聽到有人說成bigrain，但當事物是由「量」來計算的話，形容詞則需選用heavy而非big，heavy常見搭配有：heavyrain（大雨），heavyduty（重責），以及這邊談的heavyworkload（很大的工作量）。

Hercolleagueshadbeennicetoher.Itwastheheavyworkloadthatledhertoquitherjob. 她的同事們都對她很好，是工作量大導致她辭職。

降低成本 ? costdown ? lowercosts 開會中聽到老闆說要costdown，但其實這個說法是不對的！costdown是由中文直翻而來，並不是道地的英文用法，如果要說「降低成本」，正確的說法為lowercosts。

lower在這邊是當動詞用，表示「降低；減少」。

Isthereanywaytolowercosts?Ourcompanywillgobankruptbytheendofthisyearatthisrate. 有辦法可以降低成本嗎？以這樣的速率下去我們的公司年底可能就要破產了。

你可以打我的手機。

? Youcancallmycellphone. ? Youcancallmeonmycellphone. 這句話也是因為直翻而產生的錯誤，講出來會讓外國人一頭霧水的！callmycellphone意思會變成「打電話給『我的手機』」，而不是「打電話給『我』」，所以千萬記得加上介系詞on再接mycellphone，Youcancallmeonmycellphone才是「你可以打我的手機」的意思。

投影片 ? PPT ? slide 想必大家對PPT都不是很陌生，不管上學還是上班PPT都是報告的必備工具，但注意了，PPT其實是台灣人對PowerPoint這個軟體獨有的簡稱，外國人並沒有這樣的說法！PowerPoint中的投影片正確說法是slide，多張投影片則加上-s變成slides，不要再說錯啦！ Makesuretoputaminimalamountofwordsontheslides.Noonewouldbeabletoreadthemwithtoomanysentences. 要確保投影片上的字不要太多，放太多字在上面的話沒有人能看完。

? Pleaserepeatagain. ? Whatwasthat?/I’msorry? 說第一遍沒有聽清楚是人之常情，這個時候再請對方再說一遍就好，然而常聽到的Pleaserepeatagain.其實是不自然的說法，而且repeat本身就有重複的意思了，所以後面就不用多此一舉再加一個again。

道地的說法可以用Whatwasthat?或是I’msorry?，記得句尾語調要上揚才能表示疑問。

A:You’reeatingmysandwich. B:I’msorry? A:You’reeatingmysandwich. B:Whatwasthat? A:You’reeatingmy…Fine,youcanhaveit. A:你在吃的是我的三明治。

B:什麼？ A:你在吃的是我的三明治。

B:什麼？我沒聽到。

A:你在吃的是我的⋯⋯算了，你吃吧。

我的意思是________。

? Mymeaningis________. ? WhatImeanis________. 中文說「我的意思」，很多人會直翻成mymeaning，這句話文法上沒有錯，meaning這個字是名詞，確實可以表示「意思」，但是不會說mymeaning、yourmeaning。

道地的說法是whatImean。

所以當你要解釋自己的話時，可以用whatImeanis後面加上一個子句。

mean在這邊是動詞，表示「意思是」。

WhatImeanisyoushouldthinkbeforeyouspeak,notthatyoushouldalwayskeepquiet. 我的意思是你說話前要先思考，不是都不要講話。
