ThegreenhouseeffectiswhentheSun’srayspenetratetheatmosphere,butwhenthatheatisreflectedoffthesurfacecannotescapebackintospace.Gasesproducedbytheburningoffossilfuelspreventtheheatfromleavingtheatmosphere.Thesegreenhousegassesarecarbondioxide,chlorofluorocarbons,watervapor,methane,andnitrousoxide.Theexcessheatintheatmospherehascausedtheaverageglobaltemperaturetoriseovertime,otherwiseknownasglobalwarming.
