Anyabsencesotherthantheonesmentionedaboveare“Unexcused.”Ifunexcusedabsencesbecomehabitualthechildrisksbeingdismissed.Five(5)unexcusedabsencespersemesterconstitutegroundsforterminationofservices.TerminationmaybeappealedtotheDeanoftheChildDevelopmentCenterandwillfollowproceduresontheNoticeofAction. top AdmissionPolicy StatePreschool Thetoppriorityinadmissionisgiventothechildreneligibleforstatepreschool,whichfollowsadmissionpoliciesandproceduresofTitle5CaliforniaCodeofRegulations,Section18133forenrollmentofchildrenoverthreeyearsofage.Therearenofeescollectedforstatepreschoolchildren. Tuitionbasedpreschoolandinfant/toddlerprogram Admissionfortuition-basedprogramsisona“firstcomefirstserve”basis.Childrenofthestudents,staff,andfacultyhaveapriorityovercommunity. top AppealingDismissalPolicy DismissalsmaybeappealedtotheDeanoftheChildDevelopmentCenter.Allappealsmustbemadeinwritingandsubmittedwithinfive(5)daysofdismissal.Theappealshouldlistallreasonsdeemedappropriateforpossiblereversalofthedismissaldecision.Withinten(10)workingdaysofreceivingtheappeal,theDeanwillruleontherequest. top BirthdayPolicy Ifyouwishtoprovideanutritioussnackonyourchild’sbirthday,pleasenotifytheteacheraweekinadvancesothathe/shemayplanthecurriculumaccordingly.Homemadefooditemsarenotallowed;onlystore-packageditemswillbeaccepted. Pleasedonotdistributepartyinvitationsintheclassroom,unlessyouareinvitingthewholeclass.Itisveryhurtfultothechildrenwhoarenotincluded,pleasebesensitivetothisissue.Ifyoubringtheinvitationstothefrontdesk,wewillbegladtogivethemtotheindividualchildrenyouwishtoinvite. top Children'sFilesPolicy TheuseordisclosureoffinancialorotherinformationconcerningchildrenorfamilieswillbelimitedtopurposesdirectlyconnectedtotheCDCprogram.Nootheruseofthisinformationmaybemadewithoutparent’spriorwrittenconsent.Legalparents/guardiansshallhaveaccesstoallinformationcontainedintheirownchild’sindividualfile. top ClothingPolicy Pleasedressyourchildincomfortable,washableplayclothes.Inordertoencourageself-confidenceandindependence,pleasechooseclothingthatallowsthechildtoremoveiteasily(togothebathroom)andthatallowshim/hertoparticipatein“messyplay”withoutfearofgettingdirty.ChildrenwillgetdirtyattheCenterfromtimetotime.Also,tennisshoesorrubber-soledshoesarebestforrunningandplayingandhelpavoidinjuryduringplay.Childrenmaywearopen-toesandalsaslongastheyhaveastrapintheback. Pleaselabelanyclothingtopreventloss(e.g.,jackets,sweaters,hats,etc.). Besuretosendanextrasetofclothesinalabeled,plasticzip-lockbag.Makesuretheclothingsentisweatherappropriate.Pleaseincludesocks,underwear,shirtandpants.Weaskthatyouperiodicallychecktheextraclothingtomakesureitfitstheneedsofyourgrowingchild;andreplaceclothesthathavebeenused.Findinganemptybagcancauseaconsiderabledegreeoffrustrationforboththechildandthestaff.Ifyourchildisbeingpottytrainedweneedtohave3(three)setsofchangeclothesatalltimes. top Conferences Aconference,toreportonyourchild’sprogress,isheldwithyourchild’steacherinthefallandspringsemesters.Theteacherandtheparent/guardianwilldiscussgrowthanddevelopmentofthechildsothattheycanworktogethertowardmeetingthesegoals.However,ifyouhaveanyconcernatanytime,pleasecontactyourchild’steacherorthedirectortoscheduleaconferenceappointment.TheChildDevelopmentCenterstaffmayalsoinitiateaconferenceshouldtheneedarise. top Delivery&PickUpofChildPolicy Signingthechildinandouteachdaywithafullsignaturebytheparent/guardianisastatelawrequirement.AchildwillbereleasedONLYtoapersondesignatedbytheparent/guardianontheIdentificationandEmergencyForm.Exceptionsmaybemadeifthedirectorisnotifiedinwritingbytheparent/guardian.ThefrontofficepersonnelwillrequestavalidIDcard.Anyonedeliveringorpickingupthechildmustsigninandout. top Discipline/GuidancePolicy TheCDCstrivestohelpeachchildlearnanduseappropriatebehavior.Asafeandnurturingenvironmentwhereteachersandstaffmodelappropriatebehaviorsandwhereachildisrespectedasanindividualenhanceseachchild’swellbeing.Positiveredirectionisusedtohelpguideyourchild’sbehavior.Wedonotbelieveineffectivenessoftimeoutforthisage,however,ifwefeelthatachild’sbehaviorisdangeroustotheotherchildrenwewillremovethechildfromtheclassroomintotheofficefora“cool-off/reflection”time.Effortswillbemadetoworkcooperativelywiththeparent/guardianofthechildtohelphim/herlearnhowcertainbehaviorsareinappropriate.Insituationswhenthechild’sbehaviordisruptsthenormalfunctioningoftheprogramtotheextentthatneedsone-on-onesupervisionatalltimes,suchashurtingotherchildrenorstaff,thechildwillbewithdrawnfromtheprogram(SeeTerminationPolicy). top EmergencyProcedure Incaseofseriousillnessorinjury,theCenterstaffwillmakeanimmediateattempttocontactyou.Ifwecan’treachyouwewillcallpersonsyouhadauthorizedtobecalledincaseofanemergency.Ifnecessary,wewillalsocallanambulanceorparamedics.Theparent/guardianshallassumeresponsibilityforanyresultantexpense.Pleasemakesurewehavecurrentinformationneededtocontactyouintheeventofanemergency,aswellasthecurrentreleaseandpermissionform. top HealthPolicy PleasenotifytheChildDevelopmentCenterearlyinthedayifyourchildistobeabsent. Donotgivechildrenanymedicationstomasktheseoranyothersymptoms. ChildrenmayonlyattendtheChildDevelopmentCenteriftheyareableto participateinALLactivities,includingoutdoorplaythatoftenrequires playingwithwater. CHILDRENTHATARESICKMUSTSTAYHOME ChildrenwhohavebeenillshouldnotreturntotheChildDevelopmentCenteruntiltheyarefreeofsymptomsforatleast48hours;oraftertheyhavebeenonanyprescribedmedicationfor48hours.Re-admissionisatthediscretionoftheteacher,staff,orthedirector.Additionally,insomecases,adoctor’sstatementmayberequiredpriortore-admission. Ifyourchildhasbeenexposedtoacommunicabledisease(suchaschickenpox,ringworm,etc.)attheChildDevelopmentCenter,wewillpostnotificationintheclassroom,assoonaspossible,tohelpyourecognizethesymptomsoftheillness. top LatePickUpofChildPolicy Apenaltyof$1.00perminutewillbechargedforeachminutethechildremainsunderCDCstaffsupervisionpasttheassignedpickuptime.(11:30amforthemorningsessionand4:15pmfortheafternoonsession).Latepickupfeesmustbepaidpriortothechild’sreturntoschool.Failuretopaythepenaltyassessedmayresultinthechildbeingwithdrawnfromtheprogram.Childrenarenotallowedtobedroppedoffpriortotheirsession.Parentsareencouragedtowaitinthelobbyandnotinfrontoftheclassroomsbecausethisdisruptsthenormalroutineofthemorningsession. After5minuteshavepassedbeyondtheassignedpickuptime,unlessnotifiedotherwise,theCDCstaffshallassumethatanemergencyhasarisenwhichpreventsthechildfrombeingpickedupbytheparent/guardian.Uponthisdetermination,thedirector,oradesignatedstaffmember,willattempttocontacttheindividual(s)indicatedontheIdentificationandEmergencyForm.Failingtoresolvethedifficultywiththeindividualslistedontheform,ortheparent/guardian,willresultinthedirector,oradesignatedstaffmember,notifyingtheappropriateauthoritiesnecessarytohavethechildsafelyremovedfromtheCDC. top MedicinePolicy Becauseoftheresponsibilitythatgivingmedicineplacesonstaff,theCDCwillneedamedicalreleaseformfromtheparent/guardianinordertoadministeranymedication.Thisappliestonon-prescriptionaswellasprescriptionmedication.Pleasemakesuremedicationisbroughtinalabeled,childproofcontainer.Themedicalreleaseformshouldbeobtainedatthefrontdeskandthecompletedformandmedicationshouldbeleftwithstaffmemberintheoffice. Thelabelonthemedicationbottleshouldincludethefollowing: Nameofthechild. Nameofthemedication. Timesitistobegiventothechild. Theamountofmedicationtobeadministeredasprescribedbythechild’sphysicianifprescriptionmedication. Weencourageparentstoinformusofpotentialsideeffectsofthemedication. top Non-DiscriminationPolicy TheCDCisoperatedonanon-discriminatorybasisandgivesequaltreatmentandaccesstoserviceswithoutregardtogender,sex,race,color,religion,nationaloriginorancestry,ethnicgrouporientation,age,disability,maritalstatus,orsexualorientation. top PottyTraining Childrenshouldbecompletelypottytrainedbythetimetheyaremovedtorooms106,108,112.Wewillworkwithyoutoaccomplishthiswhiletheyarein102room.However,alotofextraclothingandyourcooperationareneededforthistobeasuccess. top RefundPolicy Thereisnorefundorreductionforabsenceduetoillness.Sincemaintainingthehealthofallthechildrenisamajorconsideration,theChildDevelopmentCenterstaffconductsdailyhealthchecksforsignsofillness.Ifyourchildappearstohavesymptomsofillness,he/shewillimmediatelybeisolatedfromtheotherchildrenandyouwillbecontacted. top ReligiousInstruction TheChildDevelopmentCenterasastatefundedprogramwillrefrainfromreligiousinstructionorworship. top TerminationPolicy Thefollowingcircumstancesarecauseforterminationofachild’senrollment: NotfollowingpoliciesasdevelopedbytheChildDevelopmentCenter. Disruptingthenormalfunctioningoftheoffice,classroom,oranyCenterfunctionwillresultinimmediateterminationofservices,e.g: Disturbingbehaviors(notfollowingrules,throwingobjects,hitting, kicking,biting,scratching,pinching,fighting,usingfoullanguage). Disruptingtheclasstotheextentthatthechildrequiresone-on-one interaction. Causingahazardtootherchildrenandadults,aswellastohim/herself. Causingunsafeconditionsandunsafeinteractionswithchildrenandadults. Destructionoftheenvironment. Three(3)failurestopick-upthechildontime. Two(2)failurestomakepaymentsontime. Failuretoreportclass/job/phonenumberchanges(TheCDCstaffmustbeabletolocatetheparent/guardianintheeventofanemergency). Failuretoprovidethechild’simmunizationrecordandthephysicianreport. Failuretosignand/orreturnallenrollmentsdocuments,includingInfantNeedsandServicesPlan. Three(3)failurestosignthechildin/out. Three(3)failurestocallinchildabsences. Itisjudgedthatthechildisemotionallyorsociallyunpreparedtocopewithhis/herattendanceattheChildDevelopmentCenter. Thedirectorandstaffhavedeterminedthatthechildcannoteffectivelybenefitinthisparticularenvironment. Paymentsthatareone(1)monthoverduewillresultinIMMEDIATE terminationofservices. top ToysPolicy ToysfromhomearenotpartoftheChildDevelopmentCentercurriculum.Atoybroughttoschoolcanoftengenerateconflictandcompetitionamongthechildren.Toyscanalsobelostorbroken.Therefore,toysfromthechild’shomearenotallowedattheCenter. top TuitionPolicy Tuitionchargesincludeholidayswhentheschoolisnotinsession. top WaitingListPolicy Awaitinglistismaintainedforonesemesteronly.Uponadmission,parentsneedtore-enrolltheirchild(ren)foreachsemester.Noticeswillbepostedintheclassroomsandhallways. top WithdrawalPolicy Atwo-weekwrittennoticeaddressedtotheCDCdirectorisrequiredtowithdrawachildfromtheCDCprogram.Parentsoftuition-basedprogramsareresponsibleforthecontractedrateforthesetwoweeks,whetherourserviceswererenderedornot. top Lastupdated:October26,2015 Search Search Search
