TiSPACE's Hapith I rocket has failed to launch for the third time from Whalers Way site in Southern Australia. The rocket caught fire on. ThefirstattemptonFridaylastweekwasabortedduetobadweatherandtheonethisWednesdaywasterminatedduetoasystemsfault.Aninternalfaultduringignitioncausedthe10-metre,two-stagesub-orbitalrockettocatchfire,SouthernLaunchsaid.TiSPACEwantedtotestitshybridpropulsionsystemsduringtherocketlaunch. Thethirdfailurecomesafterenvironmentalistsraisedconcernsonthepotentialimpactofthesitetothreatenedbirdspecies.SouthernLaunchiscurrentlyawaitingapprovaltobuildtwopermanentlaunchpadsattheWhalersWaysiteforregularsatellitelaunches. SouthernLaunchplannedtogathernoiseandvibrationdataduringyesterday’slaunchtodeterminetheimpactoffuturerocketlaunchesonwildlife.
