PROGRAM: MIRCertificationfollowsapathverysimilartohospitalaccreditation.AteamofDNVGLMIRsurveyorswillvisityourhospital,withtheexactnumberofauditorsandlengthofauditdeterminedbythescaleofthe hospital’sfacilities,workforceandpatie[CDCstats]ntpopulation. TheDNVGLsurveyorsapplyacomprehensive18-pointstandard,witheachelementrepresentingknowntriggerpointsforinfectionriskandperformagapassessmenttoidentifythestrengthsaswellastherisks. Basedontheassessment,trainingisperformedtopreparethefacilitytoundergothesurveyprocesswhentheydeterminethattheyareready. Uponachievingsuccessfuloutcomesduringthissurveyprocess,certificationofManagingInfectionRisk(MIR)isawarded.Thisprocessmaytake1to3years,dependingontheconformitiesneedingtobeaddressedandthecomplexityoftheorganization.
