AgreatdealofthemechanicalscarriedoverfromtheMk4,butattentionwaspaidtobuildquality,interiortrimandgeneralrefinement.TheFordmarketingmachinegotitsfiguresprettymuchspotonwiththecarbeinganinstantsuccessfrominitiallaunch.Thisversionhadasix-yearrunofproductionwhereasprinklingofnips,tucksandaminorfaceliftkepttheFiestafreshlookingandcompetitiveinsofaraspricingmattered.
