Greenonionscanbeaddedrawtoafinishedrecipeorlightlycookedwiththeotheringredients.Ifcooked,theirmorerobustflavorisreducedbutstilldetectable.Ifusedraw,theybringmuchmoreonion-flavortothemeal.RawgreenonionsaremostcommononMexicanandAsiandishesthatalreadyhaveastrongflavorprofile. Likescallions,theentiregreenonionistypicallyutilized.Inmanycases,thespicierbulbiscookedwhilethegreensarereservedforgarnish.Thestalkscanbecutindifferentwaysdependingonhowtheonionswillbeusedintherecipe. Duetotheirstrongflavor,springonionsarealmostalwayscookedwiththeotheringredients.Thelargerbulbaddsadelicateonionyflavortothemealwhilethegreensaretypicallydiscarded.
