Additionally,in2017,theIslamicAssociationofTaiwanpubliclycriticizedPTTallowingtheuserstospreadfakenewsandposthatespeechaboutMuslims,andcallingitnamesuchas“Garbagereligion”or“Muslimsaretrash”thustheIslamicAssociationofTaiwanprotestedagainstthegovernmenttovoiceconcernaboutabuseofanonymityinPTT.Muchofthefakenewsiscopiedandrecycledbytabloidsandevenmainstreammediaandcausesforeignmediatobeconfusedinparticularduringelectiontime. Moreover,anonymityledtomoreirrationalandextremebehaviorinotheraspects.Forexample,in2009,DellComputerhasmispriceditsLCDmonitorandnotebookproductsonitsofficialwebsiteandthisarousedlotsofnetizensonPTTtogofishingfircheapdeals.TheymobilizedtenandthousandsofnetizenstoorderthemispriceditemsandorderedDellcomputertosellitsproductsatafractionofitsoriginalcostwithinjustafewhours.Atthebeginning,somenetizensorderedasmallamountofthemispricedproduct.ManynetizenslaterbegantopostphotosabouttheirordersandthereforeledothernetizensinPTTtobehaveirrationallyandextremely.APTTaccountwiththeusername"connyli",forinstance,postedthephotoshowinghisorderswerevaluedmorethanNT$360million.By7:00a.m.thenextmorning,whenDellurgentlycloseditsonlineordersystem,morethan43,000orders,valuedatNT$2billion,hadbeenplacedfromPTTcausingDellcomputertoalmostcollapse.Thecourt,however,finallyruledagainstthePTTmembersoftryingtotakeadvantageoferroneousinformationtoforceDellcomputertosellbelowtheircost.Thusthecasewasdismissed. ButthemobrallyingeffectsofthePTTwentonfulldisplayinthisincident. DuringtheTyphoonJebicrisis,fakenewssaidthattheTaiwanesetouristhadtoidentifythemselvesasChineseinordertobeallowedtoboardChina’sbusthatwasusedduringtherescueefforts,andthereforeledtheothernetizensinPTTtobegintocriticizeFrankHsieh(謝長廷),Taiwan'srepresentativeinJapan.However,soon,aPTTaccountwiththeusername"idcc"postedmessagesthatclaimedtheOsakaofficewasoutofFrankHsieh'scontrolandcriticizedtheOsakaofficeshouldtakeallresponsibilityforthecrisis.ThiswasauntruebecausetheOsakaofficedirectlyreportstoFrankHsieh’sofficewhichwasinfactthehighestrankinggovernmentofficeofTaiwaninJapan,ItwastheTaiwanRepresentativeOffice.Yet,theOsakaofficetooktheblamefromthemediaandnetizens.Sufinallyfounditunbearableanddecidedtocommitsuicide.Prosecutorslaterfoundthattheaccount’sIPaddresscouldbelinkeddirectlytoSlowYang(楊蕙如),whoisconsideredaspro-DPPfigureandamemberofFrankHsieh’sfaction.Furthermore,SlowYangwasaccusedofpayingandaskingotherstopostsuchfakenewsinordertoprotectFrankHsiehattheexpenseofMr.Su’slife. HanKuo-YuandFFASIC[edit] InApril2019,aPTTaccountwiththeusername“ken4645”postedanarticletitled“IsWangJin-Pyng(王金平)andHanKuo-Yu(韓國瑜)relatedtoChina'sonlinewarriors?”Thisarticle,alongwithseveralfakephotos,allegedandaccusedthatFarmers’andFishermen'sAssociationSouthInformationCenter(FFASIC)andKMTpresidentialcandidateHanKuo-YureceivedfundsfromChinaandtriedtopurchaseFacebookpagesforspreadingmisleadinginformationinordertoaffectpublicopinionrelatedtotheelection.However,thearticlewaslaterprovedtobefalse.Theuserspreadingthesaidfakenewsprovedtobelinkedtothepro-DPPgroupandthereafterwasinvestigatedbytheprosecutor.
