Decision-Making Beingabletomakedecisionsisalsocrucialtomovingthingsforward. Itisoftenimportanttotaketimetogatherinformation,andensurethatthedecisionisright.However,theremaycomeatimewhenanydecisionisbetterthannone. Groupdecision-makingoftenrequirescompromise,andsometimesawillingnesstogiveupone’sownpointofviewinfavourofthegroup’sshareddecision. However,asourpageonGroupDecision-Makingmakesclear,groupdecisionsarenotalwayscorrectsimplybecausetheyareagreedbythewholegroup. ShapersandMonitor-Evaluatorsarebothgooddecision-makers. Shaperstendtomaketheirowndecisionsquicklyandthenmaystruggletocompromise.Theyshouldtrytoallowotherstospeakfirsttoavoidbiasingthegroup.Theirwillingnesstoarguetheirpointregardlessofviewsexpressedbypreviousspeakerswillbehelpfultothegroup’sdecision-makingprocess. Monitor-Evaluatorstendtolookfortherightdecisionfromtheavailableevidence,andmaybeslowtomakeadecisionifthereisashortageofevidence.Theymayalsoleantooheavilyonevidenceknowntomorepeople,andontheviewsofmoreseniorgroupmembers.
