TheMagicandWonderofCaves Ihavevisitedanumberoftouristattractioncavesandcavernsovertheyears.ItouredtheBullShoalsCavernsasakidwhilevisitingmygrandparentsinMountainHome,Arkansas.IhavevisitedCarlsbadCavernsinNewMexicoandstayedtowatchtheexodusofhundredsofthousandsofbatsfromthecavernatdusk.WhileIwasdeployedatIncirlikABinTurkeyforDesertShieldandDesertStorm,IhadanopportunitytovisittheCavesofHeavenandHellontheMediterraneancoast.IhavealsomadethestopatMeramecCavernsintheOzarkMountainsnearSt.Louis—anobligatorystopforanyonewhodrivesacrosstheUnitedStatesbecausetheyhavebillboardsforhundredsofmilesineverydirection.IhavemorepicturesofstalactitesandstalagmitesandinterestingrockformationsthanIcaretoadmit.
