Withabuildingareaof8.084m2,itextendstothefootofthehillona6.5-hectaresite.Thereliefandpaintingshavebeenreproducedidenticallybypainter-sculptors,resinworkersandmouldersusingastoneveiltechnique.Attheexitofthecaveexperience,variousdigitalandinteractiveareasallowthevisitorstoexpandtheirknowledgeabouttheartandcivilizationoftheCro-Magnonman.Forinstance,theprojectcontributedtodevelopaparietalarttheatretodiscovertheworksofprehistorians,thecinemafora3DtripthroughLascauxandotherparietalartsitesintheworld,andalsotheImaginationGallerytoexplorethelinksbetweenparietal(cave)artandmodernart. TechnologicalinnovationisakeyaspectofthevisitorexperienceproposedbytheLascaux4project.Thereareinteractivefeaturesallowingthevisitorstoimmersethemselvesinaugmentedrealityexperiences,whileeachvisitorisalsoprovidedwithamultifunctionaldigital"companion",adaptingtotheprofileofthevisitorandallowingthevisitortointeractwiththescenographicdevice(viaBLEtechnologiesandWifi). Lascaux4expectstoattract400,000visitorseachyear.AtotalofEUR€57,000,000wasinvestedintheproject,with€12,000,000providedbyEUfunding.
